This was the least confident booking I made through my Japan trip, but it turned out to be the top-rated afterall! The room was spacious and warm (the owner turned on the gas heater before we arrived). The owner was so friendly, and they also have native English speaker staff which made life lot easier. The owner was super helpful, he helped us to put our luggages to the room, and accommodate us in the restaurant while we were waiting for the bus (for an hour, he turned the heater and lighting on just for us, so sweet!) The exploring to the 9 local onsen was super fun, highly recommend you do so during your stay. Get the stamp collecting towel and try to find all 9 of them! We also went to the sister Onsen hotel to enjoy our private bath (with extra cost, but very cheap), it was also very nice and they sell yummy oden in the standing bar. The whole little town has a chill vibe, I wish I could have stayed there for longer.

The service was absolutely impeccible, the staff were more than willing to help us with any problem that we faced, and we faced several problems when we arrived at the location (Not related to said business). In addition to this, we were provided with traditional sandals, slippers, yukatas, and by paying for this Ryokan which is on the cheaper end of the spectrum, you get access to a whopping 9 different onsen! The location is also great and gives you access to the Monkey Park which is relatively close. You defenitly get more than you pay for. The toilets and showers were also very clean. Other than that the location was perfect. I really recommend this area of Nagano to anyone who would want to explore Northern Japan, especially in Winter, I feel like the area of this Ryokan blooms the most in Winter, or at least it looked stunning when we were there in the snowy period.

I loved my stay at Koishiya Ryokan! It is a traditional Ryokan with the modern comforts of a hostel. As a guest, you will be given a key to the nine public onsens which each provide different health benefits. They will also provide you with a yukata, geta sandals, and a basket if you want to use them for your onsen experience! I chose a private room which was super cozy. The walls are thin, so you need to be mindful of the noise you make but I didn't find it to be a problem (earplugs are also provided if needed). The cafe was yummy and very convenient to have in-house. Additionally, they were able to accommodate my late check-in with no problems at all and allowed me to leave my bags with them while I explored the area after I checked out. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler and would absolutely recommend this stay to others. Thank you for your hospitality!

Beautiful place to stay at -very clean, gorgeous interrior and just overall a great location! I went with my friends and we had a really good time. There's the possibility to visit nine public onsen for free and collect stamps on a special souvenir towel (I think it was ¥500 but I'm not sure). The water of the different onsen are said to have different healing and health properties. Also there are skiing/snowboarding and hiking opportunities around as well. We ended up going to the snowmonkey park (15 minutes drive from the hotel), which was a bit crowded but totally worth the visit. The staff is also super friendly and the food and drinks they offer are also pretty good!( loved their home made ginger drinks) If possible, we'll be back!

Our room was large and spacious with good heating. The beds were also big and comfortable. The staff member at reception clearly explained the facilities and the public onsen etiquette. There were free amenities and the shared showers and toilets were clean and spacious. There is a restaurant on site which was handy to eat at for dinner as there aren't many options in the town. All the communal areas were clean and well maintained. Although we didn't have any toilet or shower in our room, they were in close proximity and didn't hassle us at all. This place is great value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
